Website care plan
Website maintenance for small businesses, handled.
A website isn’t finished the day it launches. WordPress and its plugins need updating, backups need to exist before you need them, and your hours and prices change. Our care plan handles all of it for one flat monthly price.
What’s included in a website maintenance plan.
- WordPress core, theme and plugin updates, applied and checked
- Nightly off-site backups, and a restore if it ever comes to that
- Uptime checks and malware scanning
- Hosting and an SSL certificate that renews itself
- Monthly edit time: 30 minutes on Launch, one hour on Growth, two hours on Storefront
- Support by email and text during business hours, from a real person in Richmond
It’s one plan with hosting — see small business website hosting for how the monthly price breaks down.
Web design vs. website maintenance.
Web design is the build
The layout, the copy, the pages, the forms and the launch. It happens once, on a fixed price and a fixed timeline — 72 hours for a one-page site.
Maintenance is everything after
Keeping the software current and secure, backing it up, watching for problems, and changing the site as the business changes. It happens every month.
A lot of small business websites that break or get hacked weren’t built badly — they just stopped being maintained. That’s why the care plan starts on launch day.
What the care plan isn’t.
It’s a care plan, not a marketing retainer. Ongoing SEO, AEO and GEO campaigns, content programs and paid advertising are run by our sister company, The Digital Hall. If you want fresh content without a campaign, our monthly blog post add-on publishes one researched, locally relevant post each month for $125.
Website maintenance questions.
Do you maintain websites after launch?
Yes. Maintenance is part of the hosting and care plan that starts on launch day: updates, backups, monitoring, security and a set amount of edit time every month.
What is included in a website maintenance plan?
WordPress core, theme and plugin updates; nightly off-site backups and restores if you ever need one; uptime checks and malware scanning; hosting and SSL; and monthly edit time — 30 minutes on Launch, one hour on Growth and two hours on Storefront.
How much does website maintenance cost?
$39 a month with a Launch site and $59 a month with a Growth site, with hosting included. Online stores, enterprise-level sites and larger builds are quoted after a review.
What is the difference between web design and website maintenance?
Web design is building the site: the layout, the words, the pages and the launch. Website maintenance is everything after: keeping the software updated and secure, backing it up, and making changes as the business changes. One is a project; the other is ongoing.
How often should a small business website be updated?
Security updates should go on as soon as they’re released — we handle those. Content should change whenever something about the business does: hours, prices, services, staff or photos. A good habit is to read your own site once a quarter and fix anything a customer would find out of date.
Can I update my website myself?
Yes. You get administrator access on day one and a recorded walkthrough of the things most owners want to change. If you’d rather not touch it, send us the change and it comes out of your monthly edit time.
What if I need more edits than my plan includes?
Extra edit time is $65 an hour.
Can you maintain a website you didn’t build?
If it’s WordPress, usually: we move it onto our hosting and pick up the maintenance. If it’s on a builder like Wix or Squarespace, we rebuild it instead.
